INTERROGATIONS
a play in two acts
by Karthick Ramakrishnan and Jyoti Thottam
October 17 - 19
San Francisco and Milpitas
Based on a true story, Interrogations deals
with the issue of domestic violence, and the dynamics of silence
surrounding it, in the South Asian community as well as in other
immigrant communities.
So
far, "Interrogations" has been performed to sold-out audiences
in Boston, New York, Providence and Princeton. In addition, scenes
from the play are being used as part of an Asian American domestic
violence workshop in Boston.
The show is more than just a play performance.
At the end of each show, members of the audience are encouraged
to join in a discussion that involves cast members as well
as people working on domestic violence issues in the area.
This dialogue is a critically important part of the show, and
will be part of all three Bay Area performances.
Members of the cast include: Sapana Doshi,
Shalini Eddens, Ashish Joshi, Sareeka Malhotra, Rakesh Modi,
Yesha Naik, Siva Natarajan, Brinda Sarathy, Pavitra Subramaniam,
Sarah Town, Ranjani Vedanthan, & Brian Wang.
Thanks also to the American
India Foundation for the
use of rehearsal space, and Manja.org for
assistance with
ticket sales.
