Fat Chance Belly Dance's student troupe,
THIRD TRIBE, will be performing a unique style of belly dance called American Tribal Style founded by Carolena Nericcio. This style is a fusion of tribal dance styles from India, the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa, and Spain. It honours the rituals of tribal cultures and makes use of the elements of secular entertainment that evolved as the gypsies traveled through these countries. This style of belly dance is mostly improvisational. In tribal fashion, one woman finds the underlying rhythm and leads the rest of the group through intuitive communication. Third Tribe would like to offer its opening piece as a prayer of love and support to the victims of the earthquake.
